Stone, Direotor <br />Colorado Water Conservation B~rd <br />212 State Offioe Building <br />Denver, Colorado <br /> <br />My dear Mr. Stone: <br /> <br />This is to advise the Colorado Water Conservation Board <br />that I have this day appointed Gail.t.. Ireland. Henry.C. Vidal, <br />Charles L. Patterson and Hltrry C. l1enclenhl/.ll to represent the <br />State of Colorado upon a joint pommission oompo~ed of oommissioners . <br />representing the State of Color~do and the State, of Kansas f,or the <br />purpose of negotiating and entering into a o\llllpaot respeoting the <br />use by the two states of the waters of the Arkansas river.. It is <br />understood that any oompaot negotiated by these oomm1ss1onere ahall <br />not be binding or obligatory upon the Stat~ of Colorado until it <br />shall have been ratified by the legislatures or the signatory <br />states; and approved by the Congress of the United States. <br /> <br />These appointments are made pursuant to Seotion 9 of <br />Chapter 265 of the Session Laws of Colorado of 19~7. These oom- <br />missioners shall serve at the pleaeure of the Governor at a oom- <br />pensation to be fixed by him. The Colorado Water Conservation <br />Board shall furnish theee oommissioners with suoh legal, engineer- <br />ing, olerical and other aesistants as may be .deemed advisable. <br />When the Board aots, as hereinaf'tex: requested, I aek that the 000- <br />pensationfor suoh commissioners to be fixed by.the Governor be <br />oovered by an appropriate reconunen4ation. <br /> <br />The Colorado Water Conservation Board, in ~ooordanoe with <br />SeC\tion 9 of the above mentioned Act, h hereby requested to .ap_ <br />prove these appointments and advise the .Governor. . <br /> <br />It _s explained by the Direotor that the- Governor _.s not yet re&!Jy <br />to fix the r.ate of' oompensation oftheseoommissio~rli and tll,at he requasted <br />that the reoonmendations. of. th,e Board in that regard be delayed until a further, <br />meeti ng . . <br /> <br />------- <br /> <br />It was moved by Judge John B.
