,-

(

resolution will later be rescinded when the most current information IS reviewed and
designated.

e

4. FPR 99-509: Arapahoe County. Flood Insurance Study (FIS) dated March 4, 1991 was
prepared by FEMA and includes approximate and detailed floodplain information for various
flooding sources within Arapahoe County and Incorporated Areas within the County. The
floodplain information for the incorporated areas was previously designated, as needed, via
separate resolutions. Portions of the floodplain information for unincorporated Arapahoe
County has now been superseded by more current information. The requested action for this
report is designation and approval by the Board in order to meet statutory requirements. This
resolution will later be rescinded when the most current information is reviewed and
designated.

DISCUSSION
Attachments I through 4 sununarize the findings of the staff review for each of the floodplain
studies for which designation has been requested.

RECOMMENDATIONS
The detailed floodplain information for Resolutions Nos. 99-277. 99-508. and 99-509 meets the
applicable requirements of the Board's "Floodplain Designation and Approval Rules". Portions of
the floodplain information for those 3 studies has been superseded by more current information.
However, the staff recommends that designation action be taken on these 3 studies in order to meet _
statutory requirements. The resolutions will later be rescinded once the most current information is .-
reviewed and designated. The detailed floodplain revisions in the City of Aurora for Resolution
No. 99-507 meets the applicable requirements of the Board's "Floodplain Designation and
Approval Rules." The staff recommends designation action be taken on that study.

PROPOSED MOTION
The Board, having reviewed the Board memorandum and accompanying Attachments I, 2, 3, and 4
sununarizing proposed Floodplain Resolutions Nos. 99-277, 99-507, 99-508, and 99-509, now
moves as follows:

1. To designate and approve as detailed and approximate 100-year floodplain information for
unincorporated portions of Arapahoe County the subject reports and maps for Resolutions Nos.
99-277, 99-508, and 99-509, and to acknowledge that the undesignated 1995 Flood Insurance
Study is the most current regulatory information available to the county and will be acted upon
by the CWCB at a future meeting.

2. To designate and approve as detailed floodplain information selected streams and revisions for
the City of Aurora contained in the subject report and map for Resolution No. 99-507.

1:\boardmemlnov99Inov 99 floodplain designalions

e

2
