Efforts these past few <br />months have been focused on the development of a comprehensive action plan aimed at conserving the <br />Humpback Chub. Recommendations will be made to the AMWG at its May 29 meeting. The TWG <br />will meet on May 28 and 30. <br /> <br />Upper Colorado River Recovery Implementation Program - Coordinated Facilities Study: The <br />Executive Committee for the Coordinated Facilities Study met on March 6th to put the finishing <br />touches on the draft report. The Executive Committee is also preparing a recommendation to submit <br />with the report to the recovery program. These will be discussed with the CWCB at its May meeting. <br />The report cannot be completed until the Water Acquisition Committee has reviewed and accepted the <br />report, which is expected to occur around the end of July 2003. <br /> <br />Colorado River Endangered Fish Recovery Goals: On November 25, 2002 Earth Justice and the <br />Grand Canyon Trust filed a "60-day Notice ofIntent to Sue" the Secretary ofInterior and the U.S. Fish <br />and Wildlife Service stating that the population goals for recovery are too low. Specifically, in the <br />case of Humpback Chub, they are less than the population numbers the Service initially concluded <br />warranted listing of the species. They further claim the goals are not based on the best possible <br />science, rely to heavily on hatchery-raised fish and ignore adequate habitat restoration. No actual <br />lawsuit has yet been filed. <br /> <br />Ruedi Reservoir Contract Negotiations: CWCB staff is representing Colorado in contract <br />negotiations with the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to develop a <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />15 <br />
