<br />jJ.~ <br /> <br />RESOhUTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Bureau of Reclamation has recognized <br />the need for additional irrigation water in Southwestern <br />Colorado and Northwestern New Mexico, and <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Bureau of Reclamation has made exten- <br />sive surveys and has found it feasible to construct a series <br />of dams and canals, known as the Animas-La Plata Project of <br />the Upper Colorado River Storage Project, which would bring <br />water to the land in the above mentioned area which already <br />has limited amount of irrigation water and which would also <br />bring water to a considerable acreage of irrigable land, both <br />privately owned and Indian owned, which land has never had <br />irrigation water, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the present and future development of the <br />above mentioned area is dependent upon the completion of the <br />Animas-La Plata Project, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, numerous public meetings have been held in <br />the area and the people in the area have voiced their approval <br />and support of the Animas-La Plata Project, <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by ~larvel Grange No. <br />479, La Plata County, Colorado, in regular meeting April 25, <br />1957, that this organization go on record as favoring and <br />supporting the Animas-La Plata Project, and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by Marvel Grange No. 479, <br />in regular meeting, that we hereby respectfully ask the Hon- <br />orable Stephen L. R. McNichols, the Honorable Gordon Allott, <br />the Honorable John A. Carroll, and the Honorable Wayne N. <br />Aspinall to give their loyal support for funds to be allotted <br />to the Bureau of Reclamation to speed up the Authorization <br />Report on the Animas-La Plata Project and to further the com- <br />pletion of this project, and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that copies of this resolu- <br />tion be sent to the Honorable Stephen L. R.
