<br />, <br /> <br />CWCB <br />2/20/81 <br /> <br />STATUS OF <br />FEDERAL WATER PROJECTS <br /> <br />Introduction <br /> <br />Colorado has six Congressionally authorized water develop- <br /> <br />ment projects which have yet to be constructed: <br /> <br />Project <br /> <br />River Basin <br /> <br />Narrows* <br /> <br />South Platte <br /> <br />Savory-Pothook* <br /> <br />Little Snake (Yampa) <br /> <br />Fruitland Mesa* <br /> <br />Smith Fork (Gunnison) <br /> <br />West Divide <br /> <br />Colorado Mainstem <br /> <br />San Miguel <br /> <br />San Miguel <br />Animas and LaPlata <br /> <br />Animas-LaPlata <br /> <br />* On 1977 "hit list" <br /> <br />Three projects are presently under construction: <br /> <br />Project <br /> <br />River Basin <br /> <br />Closed Basin <br /> <br />Rio Grande <br /> <br />Dolores <br /> <br />Dolores <br /> <br />Dallas Creek <br /> <br />Uncompahgre <br /> <br />Of the six projects which have yet to be constructed, all <br /> <br /> <br />but the Narrows are so-called participating projects of the <br /> <br />Colorado River Storage Project (CRSP). This means that the <br /> <br />portion of the construction cost of such a project which is <br /> <br />allocated to irrigation and which is beyond the ability of the <br />farmer to repay will be paid f~om the revenues which accrue <br /> <br />to the Upper Colorado River Basin Fund through sale of the <br />hydropower generated at the CRSP storage units (i.e., Glen <br /> <br />Canyon, Flaming Gorge, and the Aspinall (Curecanti) Unit). <br /> <br />The Narrows is treated similarly in- that it draws upon the <br /> <br />hydropower revenues of the Missouri River system. <br />
