<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />INFORMATION CLEARINGHOUSE <br /> <br />Statutory requirements of House Bill 91-1154 <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />In 1991, the OWC established and has maintained a repository to provide the public with access to <br />water use efficiency information. The repository includes: <br /> <br />~ Database containing information gathered on water use efficiency. <br />~ All grant reports related to water use efficiency demonstration projects. <br />~ All water use efficiency plans submitted pursuant to HB 91-1154 planning <br />requirements. <br />~ Information about water use efficiency efforts by other states. <br />~ Product information from various manufacturers. <br />~ Each mailing from OWC included flyers regarding what type of information was available. <br /> <br />ADMINISTRATION <br /> <br />· OWC brochure developed to introduce the program and its opportunities. <br />· Rolodex card - explaining assistance available to the public. <br />· All information materials became available to the public. <br />· Published water use efficiency fact sheets on; water audits; grant recipients; plumbing fixtures, <br />laws and ordinances, landscape irrigation; xeriscape gardens; commerciaVindustrial <br />conservation; sod and seed businesses; xeriscape nurseries; Leak detection, indoor water <br />saving tips; showerheads; toilets; xeriscape reading sources, xeriscape landscaping; and <br />educational material. <br />· Issued news releases on the program and grants awarded. <br />· Colorado Project WET flyers were distributed on the clearinghouse database and information. <br />· Quarterly newsletter was developed and distributed. <br /> <br />LESSONS LEARNED <br /> <br />~ Lack of inquiries from the public. Only a dozen inquiries were received the first year regarding <br />information in the repository. <br />~ Intense manpower to keep current materials and database. Researching technological <br />advances and new information was time intensive with very little requests for such information. <br /> <br />33 <br />
