<br />-i....:-. <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Under the Learning to be WaterWise™ Resource Action Program, each student receives <br />a Resource Action Kit with water efficient fixtures for their homes, a LivingWise Interactive CD- <br />ROM, student activity workbook, Dear Parent letters, certificate of achievement, pre and post <br />surveys, household report card, home checkup, and access to an interactive program web site, <br />Each teacher gets a program video, classroom posters, lesson plans and curriculum correlation, <br />comprehensive teacher binder, step by step implementation checklist, supplementary activities, <br />Spanish support materials, graduate credit registration form, and a program progress chart, <br />Program management associated with teacher/school identification, introduction to teachers, <br />shipment of kits and other materials, teacher evaluations, and compilation of a summary report is <br />included, <br /> <br />The request for funds should include a contingency allowance for administrative <br />expenses of the CWCB staff. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the Board recommend to the General Assembly that a grant in the <br />amount of up to $115,000 from the CWCB Construction Fund be approved for appropriation to <br />the CWCB in support of a water education initiative for intermediate grade students and <br />households throughout Colorado beginning in the 2000/2001 school year, <br /> <br />Subsequent to Legislative approval, the Director of the CWCB shall negotiate a contract <br />with the manager of the Learning to be WaterWise Resource Action Program to manage the <br />program under the following conditions: <br />· Cost sharing shall be on a 50% state and 50% local cost sharing basis, <br />. Curriculum shall include appropriate lesson plans developed by Water Wise <br />Colorado, Project WET, CWCB staff, or other entity as determined by the CWCB <br />Director, <br />. Effectiveness shall be measured through pre- and post testing, and <br />.
