WHEREAS, a floodplain information report entitled "Mancos
River and Chicken Creek Drainage Master Plan, Mancos, Colorado,"
dated March, 1982, has been prepared by the Muller Engineering
Company, Inc., at the request of the Town of Mancos; and

WHEREAS, said report describes and outlines the floodplain
data and information for the storm and floodwater runoff channels
or basins of the study area; and

WHEREAS, the Town of Mancos has requested the Colorado Water
Conservation Board to designate and approve the floodplain areas
as set forth in the aforesaid report; and

WHEREAS,
1973, requires
the prevent ion

Section 37-60-106(1), Colorado Revised Statutes
the Colorado Water Conservation Board to assist in
of floods and flood damages therefrom; and

WHEREAS, Sections 31-23-301 and 30-28-111, Colorado Revised
Statutes 1973, provide that s'-lch legislative bodies of local
jurisdictions may pro'Tide zoning regulations for land uses on or
along any storm or floodwater runoff channel or basin only after
designation and approval by the Colorado Water Conservation
Board; and

WHEREAS, Section 37-50-105(l)(cl, Colorado Revised Statutes
1973, directs the Colorado Water Conservation Board to designate
anti appr9ve storm or floodwater runoff channels or basins and to
make such designations available to legislative bodies of local
jurisdictions; and

WHEREAS, the staff of the Board has rev iewed said report and
does hereby recommenti to the Colorado Water Conservation Board
that the Board designate and approve as flootiplain areas those
areas inundated by a 100-year flooti (intermetiiate regional flood)
as described by the floodwater surface elevations and profiles in
said report;
