WHEREAS, a report enti tIed "Flood Insurance Study, Mof fat
County, Colorado, Unincorpor:ited ll,reas," which includes
floodplain information and data for the Yamoa River,
Fortification Creek, Sand Gulch Tributarv, Brotherton Gulch,
Cedar 'lountain Gulch, pine Rdne Gulc'1, Lay 'Creek, Big Gulch, and
other unnamed streams, dated August 3, 1982, has been prepared by
;1S~~ Consultants, Inc., imder contract with the Federal Insurance
ll,dministration; and

\'lHEREAS, sai,1 report Jesc'cibes and outlines the floodplain
data and information for the storm and floodwater runoff channels
or basins of the study area; and

WH8REAS, ;10ftat County has requested 'the Colorado Water
Conservation Board to designOlte and approve the floodplain areas
as set forth in the aforesaid report; and

WHEREAS,
1973, requires
the prevent ion

Section 37-60-106( 1), Colorado Revised Statutes
the Colorado Water Conservatior'l Board to assist in
of floods and flood damages therefrom; and

WHEREAS, Sections 31-23-301 and 30-28-111, Colorado Revise<l
Statutes 1973, provide that such legislative bodies of local
juris<lictions may provide zoninq regulations for land uses on or
along any storm or floodwater runoff channel or basin only after
designation and approval by the Colorado Water Conservation
Board; and

WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106(1)(c), Colorado Revised Statutes
1973, directs the Colorado Water Conservation Board to designate
and approve storm or floodwater runoff channels or basins and to
make such design:ltions available to legislative bo<lies of local
jurisdictions; and

\mEREAS, the staff of the Board has reviewed said report and
<loes l1ereby recommend to the COlorado Water Conservation Board
that the Board designate and approve as floodplain Olreas those
areas inundated by a lOa-year flood (intermediate regional flood)
as <lescribed by the floodwater surface elevations and profiles in
said report;
