WHEREAS, a flood?lain information report entitled "Flood
Hazard Information, Dolores River and Tributaries, Dolores,
Montezuma County, Colorado," dated September, 1978, has been
prepared by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Sacramento
District, at the request of Montezuma County and the Montelores
?lanning Group, and

WHEREAS, said report describes and outlines the floodplain
data and information for the storm and floodwater runoff channels
or basins of the study area, and

WHEREAS, Montezuma County has requested the Colorado Water
Conservation Board to designate and approve the floodplain areas
as set forth in the aforesaid report; and

WHEREAS,
1973, requires
the prevention

Section 37-60-106(1), Colorado Revised Statutes
the Colorado Water Conservation Board to assist in
of floods and flood damages therefrom, and

WHEREAS, Sections 31-23-301 and 30-28-111, Colorado Revised
Statutes 1973, provide that SllCh legislative bodies of local
jurisdictions may provide zoning regulations for land uses on or
along any star'll or floodwater runoff channel or basin only after
designation and approval by the Colorado Water Conservation
Board, and

WHEREAS, Sect ion 37-60-106 ( 1 ) (c), Colorado Rev ised Statutes
1973, directs the Colorado Water Conservation Board to designate
and approve stor'll or floodwater runoff channels or basins and to
make such designations available to legislative bodies of local
jurisdictions, and

WHEREAS, the staff of the Board has rev iewed said report and
does hereby recomme'ld to the Colorado Water Conservation Board
that the Board designate and approve as floodplain areas those
areas inundated by a 100-year flood (intermediate regional flood)
as described by the floodwater surface elevations and profiles in
said report,
