WHEREAS, a report entitled "Flood Insurance Study, Town of
Gypsum, Colorado, Bagle County," which includes floodplain
information and data for Gypsum Creek and the Eagle River, dated
March 16, 1981, has been prepared by Gingery Associates, Inc.,
under contract with the Federal Insurance Administration; and

WHEREAS, sain report describes and outlines the floodplain
data and information for the storm and floodwater runoff channels
or basins within the current corporate limits of the Town of
Gypsum: and

WHEREAS, t~e Town of Gypsum has requested the Colorado Water
Conservation Board to designate and approve the floodplain areas
as set forth in the aforesaid report for Gypsum Creek only; and

Section 37-60-106( 1), Colorado Revised Statutes
the Colorado Wate~ Conservation Board to assist in
of floods and flood damages therefrom; and

WHSREAS, Sections 31-23-301 and 30-28-111, Colorado Revised
Statutes 1973, provide that such legislative bodies of local
jurisdictions may provide zoning regUlations for land uses on or
along any storm or floodwater runoff channel or basin only after
designation and approval by the Colorado Water Conservation
Board; and

WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106 ( 1 ) (c), Colorado Rev ised Statutes
1973, directs the Colorado Water Conservat ion Board to des iqnate
and approve storm or floodwater runoff channels or basins and to
make such designations available to legislative bodies of local
jurisdictions; and

WHEREAS, the staff of the Board has reviewed said report and
does hereby recommend to the COlorado Water Conservation Board
that the Board designate and approve as flOOdplain areas those
areas inundated by a 100-year flood (intermediate regional flood)
as described by the floodwater surface elevations and profiles in
said report for Sypsum Creek only;
