Water Conservation and Drought Mitigation Guidelines for Board Action

The Office of Water Conservation and Drought Mitigation (hereafter the "Office"), in response to the Water
Conservation Act of2004 (lIB 04-1365), has prepared guidelines related to water conservation and drought
mitigation planning for Board consideration and approvaL This Board Agenda Item will include:

. A brief review of the evolution of the duties and responsibilities of the Office
. An overview ofHB 04-1365
. A review of the guidelines that require Board action
. An overview ofHB 05-1254
. A review of the next steps for the Office

The attached PowerPoint presentation will be used to guide and-direct the Agenda Item.

Other attachments to this memo are as follows:

. The Final Draft Guidelines (as listed below) requiring Board consideration and action.
. The Final Draft Model Water Conservation Plan Guidance Document for Board consideration.

Reauested Board Actions
The Board Will be asked to take the following actions relative to the guidelines prepared by the Office:

1. Review and approve for adoption the folloWing guidelines:
a. Guidelines for the Office to Review Water Conservation Plans Submitted by Covered Entitie&
b. Guidelines for the Office to Provide [Financial] Assistance to Covered Entities to Develop
Water Conservation Plans
c. Guidelines for the Office to Review Drought Mitigation Plans

The Office also requests that the Board acknowledge those tasks that will be performed over the coming
months to continue the implementation of the Water Conservation Act of 2004.
