Rio Grande Director's Report <br />Tape 3: Start/Stop: 1335 - 2023 <br />Action: A motion was made by Eric Kuhn that the board go on record as supporting, in <br />concept, the designation of the Sand Dunes National Monument as a <br />national park as proposed by Senator Allard. Patricia Wells seconded the <br />motion. Harold Miskel voiced concerns over the language contained in <br />the bill restricting the use of water rights that might be purchased along <br />with the Baca Ranch. Ken Salazar explained that there were questions <br />regarding the acquisition of the Baca Ranch and explained that the <br />language of the bill was grandfathered into legislation involving the San <br />Luis Valley water supply. Dan McAuliffe told the board that the discussion <br />regarding this item could be revisited on August 28'h, at 8:00 a.m. during <br /> <br />Minutes July 24-25, 2000 <br />Page 5 <br />
