Introduction
The State of Colorado has enjoyed the benefits of many cooperative planning/engineering studies
and constructed flood control projects over the past fifty years with the U. S. Army Corps of
Engineers. Four main District offices represent Corps activities in Colorado: 1) Omaha, 2)
Albuquerque, 3) Sacramento, and 4) Kansas City. The Corps' first flood study was located in Weld
County, Colorado in 1939 and their first flood control project was the Creede, Colorado flood
channel in that was constructed in 1949. Subsequent to these two Corps activities, many Colorado
communities have received federal dollars through the Corps programs studies and projects. The
studies and projects listed below were identified by CWCB staff for presentation at the Board
meeting and represent some of the key projects within the state. Attached is the FY 03-04 Budget
Summary for the Corps that lists all of the current/requested Corps activities in Colorado.

General Investigations:
· Chatfield Reservoir Storage Reallocation Feasibility Study
· Fountain Creek and Tributaries Reconnaissance study (completed) and the upcoming Feasibility
Study (scheduled to begin in April 2003).
· Cache la Poudre River Reconnaissance Study for Greeley, Colorado

Operations and Maintenance:
· Chatfield Lake Downstream Channel Improvement Project (potential Section 1135 project)
. Cherry Creek Lake

Dam Safety:
· Cherry Creek Dam Safety

Construction General Funding:
· Glenwood Springs - Roaring Fork River Bridge

Section 205 Flood Damage Protection:
· Willow Creek at Creede, Colorado
· Van Bibber Creek at Arvada, Colorado
