<br />. <br /> <br />Amount of request: $50,000 (Follow-up funding. $25,000 provided FY 2000) <br /> <br />Total Cost of study/project: $1,500,000 <br /> <br />Cost share and partners: $170,000 has been provided by a wide range of partners <br />including Summit and Grand Counties, Denver Water, Northern Colorado WCD, <br />Colorado River WCR, DOLA, and local water users. <br /> <br />Schedule: Phase III ofUPCO will start winter 2000-2001 and be completed by <br />approximately 2006. Planning and design for Phase III will start in spring 2001 and be <br />largely completed by June 30, 2002. <br /> <br />Product produced: Plans and designs for project construction or implementation. <br /> <br />Water planning relationship: The UPCO project is regional water planning and <br />implementation project. It addresses with water quantity and water quality issues in <br />Summit and Grand Counties, recognizing the needs of both the east and west slope water <br />users/suppliers. Summit County has been impacted by past mining operations (62 <br />abandoned metal mines) while Grand County has 23 active mines. Plans and designs <br />produced in Phase III will lead to CWCB loans for construction or rehabilitation of raw <br />water infrastructure and more efficient use of existing water resources. <br /> <br />6. Gunnison River Restoration <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Grantee and/or Contractors: North Fork River Improvement Association (NFRlA) <br /> <br />Amount of request: $75,000 <br /> <br />Total Cost of study/project: $3,000,000 <br /> <br />Cost share and partners: NFRlA has received over $400,000 in cash and in-kind services <br />to date. Major partners are the Colorado River WCD, the CWCB, the Bureau of <br />Reclamation, the Colorado Soil Conservation Board, DOLA, Colorado Smart Growth <br />Regional Partnership Initiative, the CDOT, the Nation Park Service Rivers and Trails <br />Program, and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. <br /> <br />Schedule: NFRlA has completed a Watershed Action Plan, and a demonstration project <br />for river rehabilitation. Planning and design for future restoration sub-projects will begin <br />spring 2001 and be largely completed within by June 30, 2002. <br /> <br />Product produced: Plans and designs for project construction or implementation. <br /> <br />Water planning relationship: The NFRlA river restoration project involves regional <br />water planning, recognizing the needs of water users, municipal and county governments, <br />landowners, recreationalists, and environmentalists. Existing coal and gravel mining <br />operations impact the area of focus (near Hotchkiss). Plans and designs produced will <br />lead to CWCB loans for construction or rehabilitation ofraw water infrastructure. <br /> <br />7.
