Project Description: UPDer Colorado River Non-native Fish Control (Priority #1) <br />Project Coordinator: Tom Nesler <br />The purpose of this project is to reduce the abundance and distribution of threatening non-native fish species <br />so that they will not impede the recovery of the Colorado River endangered fishes. <br /> <br />Proiect Tasks/Deliverables and Associated Costs: <br />Design and construct the Phase I of a combined project to isolate largemouth bass and bluegills at the Duke <br />Lake (5 acres) and Connected Lake (50 acres) complex near Grand Junction. Elements include isolating <br />berms to accommodate the 50-year flood level to prevent escapement of the non-native fish into riverine <br />native fish populations and intake structure(s) if needed to meet regulatory requirements. <br /> <br />Costs for all tasks related to this project (1) shall not exceed $ 225.000 from the Native Species <br />Conservation Trust Fund. <br /> <br />AGENCY P AA. PROJECf NUMBER 0820 <br /> <br />2. Project Description: Protect and Manal!e Preble's Meadow JumDinl! Mouse Habitat in Coni unction with the <br />Habitat Conservation Plans (Priority #3) <br />Project Coordinator: Gary Skiba <br />The purpose of this project is to preserve and protect important Preble's Meadow Jumping Mouse (pMJM) <br />habitats through the acquisition of options and to see the planning process for affected counties to <br />completion. <br /> <br />Proiect Tasks/Deliverables and Associated Costs: <br />$200,000 from the Fund will be used for the Division of Wildlife (DOW) with the consent of the Executive <br />Director of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), to purchase options on properties that enhance, <br />preserve, restore and protect lands which support or can be managed to support the PMJM and which will <br />likely contribute to eventual recovery of the species. In addition, $50,000 from the Fund will be used to <br />match with anticipated federal funds for the collaborative planning process for affected counties. It is <br />anticipated that these funds will help complete the planning process for developing county habitat <br />conservation plans.
