<br />Policy Implementation Objectives <br /> <br />Instream Flow and Natural Lake Level Protection Section <br /> <br />Instream Flow and Natural Lake Level Pro!!ram - Protect CWCB's exclusive statutory <br />authority to appropriate, acquire and protect instream flow and natural lake level water <br />rights in the State. <br /> <br />Develop, manage, implement, and administer the program to correlate the activities of <br />mankind with the preservation of the natural environment to a reasonable degree by: <br /> <br />. Identifying streams and lakes that would benefit from a Board held water right <br />. Quantifying the amount of water needed to protect the environment <br />. Filing for new water right appropriations <br />. Acquiring water rights via donation, lease, and purchase <br />. Monitoring the amount of water in streams and lakes to ensure water rights are <br />being met <br />. Protecting existing water rights by filillg Statements of Opposition, seeking <br />settlements or going to trial <br /> <br />Technical Support and Consultin!! - Provide technical support and consultiug services to <br />CWCB and other state, federal, and local entities, as needed, in the areas of: <br /> <br />. Biological data collection and scientific analysis <br />. Hydrologic and engineering analysis <br />. State water policy and water law <br />. Water quality <br />. Gaging and measurement <br /> <br />Statewide Outreach and Education - Each Section shall perform outreach and education <br />including participating in public awareness and program advocacy activities to increase <br />public and organizational understanding of CWC)! and develop opportunities for each <br />Section to achieve their goals. <br /> <br />Water Information - Make information accessible to CWCB's customers and the public <br />regarding stream and lake protection, instream water rights, and lake level protection, as <br />well as general information related to the Section"through publications, the Internet, <br />databases, and the imaging of documents. <br /> <br />Page 6 of 10 <br /> <br />3/10/2002 <br /> <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br />
