<br />115 <br /> <br />1~. Riter stated that the Bureau did submit a draft of <br />report on the Blue-South Project in 1948. The Board, he explained, <br />has not given comments on it. Mr. P~ter added that this was one of <br />the items the Policy and Review Committee was going to handle next. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Saunders referred to a chart showing the actual <br />water that was required to operate the potable water supply to <br />Denver from 1947 to 1952. If Denver continues to grow and has the <br />same per capita consumption as it has had, its supply, including <br />unused water in the Williams and Moffat Tunnel and everything <br />available from the Platte River, vlill be consumed by 1963. If the <br />growth continues as in the last five years, he stated, Denver will <br />run out of water in 1961. <br /> <br />Mr. Saunders continued with. his comments. He stressed the <br />fact that Denverhas made every effort possible to conserve its water. <br /> <br />Referring to the oil shale development on the Western <br />Slope, Mr. Saunders stated, according to_ figures worked out by <br />Silmon S~ith, the West Slope plans to produce 40 per cent of all the <br />oil in the United States. He said a million-barrel per day plant is <br />planned--the largest plant in the world is only 420,000. <br /> <br />Regarding the meeting the Water Committee of the <br />Denver Chamber of Commerce attended, to which Mr. Williams referred, <br />Mr. Saunders explained that this was totally unofficial. There Were <br />no public officials of Denver present, he said. <br /> <br />Mr. Saunders called attention to a letter which the <br />Denver Water Board presented to the Colorado Water Conservation Board <br />at a meeting, held June 11, 1951. This letter, he explained, presented <br />the views of the Denver Water Board on the Colorado River Storage <br />Project. Mr. Srolnders read the above-mentioned letter to the Board, <br />as follows: <br /> <br />BOARD.
