.

Sue Uppendahl, who worked for the Water Supply Protection section primarily on Upper
Colorado River endangered species issues, has resigned. Sue has been waiting for her request for
permanent disability due to an illness to be granted.

Your coordinator, Andrea Wygle, left on June 14 to work for a close friend at Arapahoe
Community College, located within three of her home. I am in the process of filling this position.
In the meantime, Noreen Chambers our office coordinator is helping out.

I have hired a new budget director. His name is Don Wood. He has eight years of budget
experience working for an executive agency, the Department of Labor and Employment, and
three years of experience working for the Joint Budget Committee. Don is replacing Susan Maul
who has transferred to the Water Supply Protection section,

I am in the process of hiring a new receptionist who will also have other responsibilities.

I have named Mike Serlet as Acting Deputy Director. When I am not avaijable please,
contact Mike.

WRIe: We have found about 1,300 square feet of office space adjacent to the Colorado
Water Congress Office at 1580 Logan Street in Denver. We are examining the feasibility of
establishing a more useful Water Resource Information Center and a Decision Support System
operating center. If we can secure the space and identify funding, we will accelerate the process
of cataloguing, imaging and making available for public use, via the Internet and in a walk-in
center, decades of historical documents, case files, floodplain maps and other information.

Budget Update: I met with Greg Walcher on July 7 to review of Fiscal year 2001-2002
. budget proposal and to review the need for additional funding for some activities.

###

.

11
