Statewide Water Supply Initiative (SWSI) Implementation Update

The Statewide Water Supply Initiative (SWSI) team is in the process of completing the fmal round of Basin
Technical Roundtable (BRT) meetings, and we have begun drafting our final report and executive summary.
At the time of the CWCB notebook mailing the team will still need to conduct two BRT meetings. Given this
schedule it will be difficult to complete written information for inclusion in your notebook. However, written
information will be available in time for the actual CWCB meeting and will be handed out during the
meeting.

The SWSI team will present information on the following topics:

1. Summary of Major Findings (attached to this memorandum)

2. Summary ofBRT #4 Meetings

3. Discussion of: A) Water Supply Options for Remaining Gap and B) Water Supply Options for the
Gap Associated with the Uncertainty in Identified Projects and Processes. The Board will be
presented with a summary of feedback from the BRTs, and the SWSI team will solicit feedback as to
the level of detail we should go into regarding the Water Supply Options for these two categories of
water supply needs.

4. Final Report and Recommendations

. Review of time line for SWSI completion
. Presentation of Preliminary Draft of the Executive Summary
. CWCB Implementation Plan - A conceptual outline of post-November activities will be
presented. This will include:
i. Resource Allocation- activities for CWCB staff and contractor support
ii. Discussion of Post-November Work on Statewide River Basin Issues (clarifY CWCB
resolution from the July 2004 CWCB meeting)
iii. Financial considerations for structural and non-structural projects for Water Supply
Options for remaining gap (topic 3 A from above)
