It will be in Category One with this. Without a:loan or a.lease; what
have you, from the state .of Colorado, we would be in Category Three,
which those projects right now are to be considered by the Bureau.
That pretty well.sums up the remarks. I think the synopsis put out by
the staff of the Colorado Water Conservation Board pretty well covers',
it.

MR.. STAPLETON: Any questions of; Mr. Schuster?

MR.. VANDEMOER: What recreation plans does the Fqrest Service have?
Would they have fishing rights at the lake or what does that mean?

MR.: SCHUSTER: The reservoir is presently situated in'Gunnison National
Forest. The Forest Service said that they would give us a special
permit to construct this new reservoir, if we would provid~ fifty-five
thousand dollars worth of recreational facilities, picnic facilities,
roads. No boat ramps at this time. But they would have, as they do
now, fishing so people coulg fish.

MR.. VANDEMOER: The reservoir is open now? '

MR.. SCHUSTER: It is, open now, yes.

MR. JACKSON: How many users: are there under:the,Ditch Association that
would be affected by this?

MR.. SCHUSTER: In terms of people?

MR..: JACKSON: Wen, farms would probably be better.

MR.. SCHUSTER: I have that figure here in the report. I don'thav~, it.
right here in my head, unless Marvin has it!

MR.. WHITE: I think about sixty-eight.

MR.. SCHUSTER: Presently ten thousand shares of water.

MR.. JACKSON~ One other question. Just technically, what ~ppens to
the old dam when you. put the new one down below?

MR.. SCHUSTER: We'll breach the old dam, and let most of it stick out
there, to be used for fishing, et cetera. It will be like a lij::tle
peninsula on both ,sides going out into the reservoir.

MR.. JACKSON: Will it give you a lot of mud al}. of a 'sudden when you
breach the old dam?

MR.. SCHUSTER: No, we won't get this. The plans are right now to use
as much borrow material as we can from' the ar,ea. And towards: the end"
we will start using borrow material from the dam. The plans are to
build it in three seasons, and towards the end of the. third, season as ':
the reservoir empties, we will start bre~ching the dam.

MR.. FETCHER: Do you' have to go through'with an environmental analysis

,-32-

I

I
