.

.

.

Agenda Item 27 - Coordinated Facilities
May 19-20,2003 Board Meeting

More thorough investigation of the best alternatives may be conducted using an updated data set
for 1975 - 1999 and two or three scenarios for 60,000 and 120,000 AF of new depletions including
locations, magnitudes, and frequencies of these depletions.

Discussion

Attached hereto is the draft "Executive Summary" for the Phase II study effort which
summarizes the results of a reconnaissance level investigation of 19 alternatives for supplying up to
20,000 acre feet for spring peak augmentation and a draft study recommendation. The Executive
Committee is still considering the draft study recommendation, with that portion dealing with new
storage still receiving considerable debate.

The goal is to fmalize a draft recommendation and provide the draft report and recommendation
to the Recovery Program's "Water Acquisition Committee" (WAC) for review and comment by
mid-June. The WAC will meet in early July and if it accepts the report and recommendation, would
suggest incorporating such into the RIPRAP. If consensus cannot be reached, the report and
recommendation will be forwarded to the Recovery Program Managemerit Committee for resolution.

Recommendation

Staff believes the proposed recommendation is sound, but has not taken a formal position
pending discussion with the Board.

Attachments:
DRS

c:\mydocslagenda27CFOPS52003,bdm.doc

Flood Protection.
