September 21-22,1998 Board Meeting-
South Platte River Channel Project, Right-of-Way Action

INTRODUCTION

At the May 11-12, 1998, Board Meeting, approval was given to grant an easement to the South
Metro Fire Training Academy (Academy) for the placement of a portable storage shed and
adjoining service area. The CWCB Memorandwn including the CWCB recommendation and
approval is attached. The memorandwn is titled "South Platte River Channel Project, Agenda e
Item 5.b.," dated May 1, 1998.

DISCUSSION

Following approval of the Academy's easement request, the Staff commenced with the
preparation of the easement for the Academy. However, Staff has discovered that the Academy
is not an independent entity, but rather, is a facility jointly owned by the City of Littleton, the
City of Englewood, the Littleton Fire Protection District, the Castlewood Fire Protection
District, and the Bancroft Fire Protection District.

RECOMMENDATION

Following a review by the AG's Office and CWCB staff for Agenda Item 6.a., a
recommendation is as follows:

Since the Academy is not an independent entity, Staff requests the Board to amend its May 1998
authorization to delete the Academy as grantee and to approve a grant of easement to the City of
Littleton, the City of Englewood, the Littleton Fire Protection District, the Castlewood Fire
Protection District, and the Bancroft Fire Protection District for the Academy's placement of a
portable storage shed and adjoining service area on land owned by the CWCB, subject to all the
conditions imposed by the Board at the May 1998 meeting.

1

.
