rapidly as we can;

MR. SPARKS: I might say that all the other entities that are interested
in storage in Chatfield have no tnterest in minimum flows. Denver is
the only one that is involved in the minimum flows. The rest of the
entities simply want storage space.

MR. JACKSON: Second.

"

I

MR. VANDEMOER: I move for approval.

MR. STAPLETON: Any further discussion? (No response.) All
favor signify by saying "Aye." (Unanimous ayes.) Opposed?
response.)

those
(No

in

Unanimously carried. (See Appendix A.)

MR. SPARKS: Mr. Ogilvie, or Bob, would you like to inform Congressman
Wirth's office in Washington? It is now 12:30 in Washington, D. C.

(Whereupon Mr. Ogilvie and Mr. Fischer left the meeting.) .

MR. STAPLETON: Is there anyone here from the Bureau of Recl!Ullation
today? Larry Nelson, would you discuss the status of the Front Range
project.

MR. SPARKS: First, I might preface the remarks here a moment as to
why we put this item on the agenda.

As has been illustrated by the problem here in the metropolitan area,
we are having a similar problem,up and down the Front Range, in
connection with water supplies. Virtually every community -- and all
through Colorado, on both sides of the mountains -- are having a great
deal of difficulty keeping up with expanding water requirements.

This Front Range study was authorized by Congress, some years ago to
look at the possibilities of better regulation of'the water supplies
that we have over here. That includes all potential us~s - agri-
cultural, municipal, industrial, recreational, what have you. This I
study has been progressing for several years. It is a very, difficult
type of study to prrive at any firm conclusions. The status report has
been issued" which the board members have in their folders" This
morning we thought that because of the critical situation in the Front
Range cities, we would have the Bureau review the nature of some of
these st,udies.

MR. NELSON: I am Larry Nelson, Bureau of Reclamation, Lower Missouri

.,8-
