MR. STAPLETON:

MR. PETERSON:

MR. STAPLETON:

the extent of $202,000 this year. West
Divide comes in for a large sum of money and
it is now nearing the completion stage as far
as the feasibility report is concerned. An-
other significant item is the Yellow Jacket
Project for $76,000. This is a new feasibil-
ity investigation.

1

The other projects have been covered.
The Cache la Poudre Project is of significant
interest to the South Platte Valley and that
also is a new project. The Narrows has al-
ready been discussed.

You will note that we have a total of
approximately $l5,OOO,000 in the budget for
construction and about $800,000 for investi-
gations. This is a new high for Colorado and
it is a situation which we believe will con-
tinue for a number of years to come. It is
throwing an increased burden on the Bureau
staff and on our own staff, which means that
this Board is going to have more and more
thorny problems in the future as competition
develops between these projects. We are now
running into competition in water supply in
western Colorado. Some people in eastern
Colorado have not thought that was possible,
but believe me it is. We are running into
those conflicts on almost every project that
we now have under investigation.

I think, Mr. Chairman, that summarizes
the Director's report."

"Thank you, Larry."

"Mr. Chairman."

"Just a minute, Mr. Peterson. First of
all, I was going to announce that this was
the first meeting I had ever attended of the
Water Board that we didn't have a member of
the Legislature with us. Representative Ray
Farr has made that unnecessary. We are glad
to have you with us and would you stand up?

1
