I

MR. SPARKS:

MR. OGILVIE:

MR. SPARKS:

MR. WHITTEN:

MR. SPARKS:

MR. STAPLETON:

I

MR. SPARKS:

Project. Larry, could you give us a little
bit on that? Is Colorado going to benefit
to the extent anticipated for the Narrows
Project on this substitute project, shall
we say?"

"We hope more. Actually for the Narrows
Project, as I recall, we didn't get anything
out of the Missouri Basin Fund. Is that
correct, Mr. Barrett or Mr. Ogilvie? Very
li ttle anyway."

"That's correct, Larry. At the time the
Narrows was originally conceived it was on a
flood control basis and at that time the
reservoir was standing alone as a project."

"Right. Now we hope to get substantial
assistance from the Missouri River Fund which
is a fund somewhat comparable to the Colorado
River Basin Fund except that it is not allo-
cated to specific states. I doubt if Colo-
rado has received anything out of that
Missouri Basin Fund or if so, a very minor
amount. So we do hope to obtain substantial
assistance from that fund and we believe we
will have no difficulty with the other states
of the Missouri Basin as we have constantly
supported their developments downstream."

"Is it your idea, Larry, that it should
be perhaps taken up with the Inter~Agency
Committee at the proper time?"

"Yes, absolutely."

"Any additional discussion on the Narrows
project? If not, we will go to Item #4, the
'Fryingpan-Arkansas Project - Progress Re-
port' from Larry on the present status of
that project."

"Mr. Ogilvie and Mr. Barrett are here
from Region 7, the Bureau of Reclamation, Mr.
Barrett being the engineer Who, over the
years, has been charged with the field
studies on the Fryingpan-Arkansas Project.
