,
.

.

.

'l>

Coordination Plan: Headwaters Consulting will serve as the project manager for a demonstration project
partnership between Science & Tech and the Green Industry, Headwaters will engage a project team that will
work together to ensure desired results, The project team will include the Headwaters project manager and
contract staff, project liaisons for both Science & Tech and GreenCO, Green Industry representatives,
construction contractors, teachers, students and CSU Cooperative Extension agents,

The project manager will manage the day-to-day activities of the project and ensure that all objectives and
tasks are accomplished on time and within budget. The Science & Tech liaison will ensure that the project is
compatible with the school's educational and sustainable development goals and that Mortenson, the site
contractor, has what they need to implement the demonstration project during site construction. School
professionals and educators will be involved on an as-needed basis to develop and implement the project
GreenCO industry representatives will provide expertise and volunteer labor to develop the monitoring
system and evaluate the results of this project The project team approach will reinforce the school's goal of
learning by working together and integrating different disciplines,

Partnerships: Science & Tech has already developed several key partnerships to build the school as a
technology-rich environment These partnerships will contribute to a generally high profile for the school
and its innovations. Partners include:
· Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (support for development)
· Hewlett Packard (technology infrastructure)
· Forest City Enterprises (master developer)
· M,A, Mortenson Company (design phase manager)
· Nuszer Kopatz Urban Design Associates (landscape architects)
· CU Boulder (college admissions partner)
· Xcel Energy (assisting with energy efficiency)
· Governor's Office ofInnovation & Technology (support for school)
· Denver Soccer Club (sponsor of one soccer field)

GreenCO will include its nine association members in the project in addition to Keesen Water Management
and the Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District, both of whom have done extensive research into the
application of water conservation tools and technologies,

Conclusion: The Denver School of Science and Technology is committed to a hands-on learning approach
as the cornerstone for learning - including the use of "transparent infrastructure" as a learning tool
throughout the school and grounds, This demonstration project will provide a natural extension of the
school's philosophy to its outside environment In addition, this project builds on CWCB's initial support for
the development of Green Industry Best Management Practices and takes that investment to the next level
through an on-the-ground demonstration project and the engagement of additional public and private
partners. Ultimately, this project will result in information about the effectiveness of landscape BMPs on
water conservation, Results from this project will be transferable to a variety of audiences including
homeowners, municipalities, water providers and landscape-related companies,

The Green Industries of Colorado includes the following organizations: Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado (ALeC), The Colorado Chapter of the
American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), Colorado Association of Lawn Care Professionals (CALep), Colorado Greenhouse Growers Association
(CGGA), Colorado Nursery Association (CNA), Garden Centers of Colorado (Gee), International Society of ArboricultmelRocky MOWltain Chapter (ISAIRMC),
Rocky Mountain Sod Growers Association (RMSG) and Wholesale Florists of Colorado (WFC).

Flood Protection .
