(GreenCO) seeks the support of the Colorado Water
Conservation Board to develop a project to demonstrate and measure the effectiveness of recently developed
landscape-related Best Management Practices (BMPs) for the conservation and protection of water resources
in Colorado. Through Headwaters Consulting, Science & Tech and GreenCO will design a demonstration
project that will include a long-term commitment from students in the school to monitor the water
conservation impacts oflandscape Best Management Practices. This effort will build on CWCB's investment
in the development of landscape-related Best Management Practices, This project represents the next step for
the BMP efforts, to put them into practice through a demonstration project

The Denver School of Science and Technology is a charter high school that will be located on a 10-acre
campus on the southern border of the 4,700-acre Stapleton redevelopment site in Denver. Science & Tech
has two missions of equal importance: I) to become the premiere public school in the state focusing on
science, math and technology; and 2) to increase the number of underrepresented students who succeed in
math and the sciences both at the high school and post-secondary level. Resource sustainability and
conservation are primary goals of both Science & Tech and the Stapleton redevelopment site. In addition to
constructing a "green" school building, Science & Tech is committed to designing and installing a water
conservation "learning landscape" for use as a teaching tool for students.

The campus' 10-acre site will include two soccer fields, one of which is being funded by the Denver Soccer
Club for competitive use, as well as a landscaped entryway, parking areas and a tree-lined parkway on three
sides. The BMP demonstration landscape will provide an outdoor complement to the school's learning
approach, while generating useful data for state and local water agencies.

The Green Industries of Colorado includes the following organizations: Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado (ALeC), The Colorado Chapter of the
American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), Colorado Association of Lawn Care Professionals (CALCP), Colorado Greenhouse Growers Association
(CGGA), Colorado Nursery Association (CNA), Garden Centers of Colorado (GCe), International Society of ArboricultruelRocky Mountain Chapter (ISA/RMC),
Rocky MOWltain Sod Growers Association (RMSG) and Wholesale Florists of Colorado (WFC).

Flood Protection. Water Project Planning and Financing. Stream and Lake Protection
Water Supply Protection. Conservation Planning
