DRAFT

Chapter 9: Identification of Assessment Participants

Authors: Tracy Bouvette, Bouvette Consulting; Nina Nichols, Resolution Research
& Marketing, Inc,; Brad Lundahl, Colorado Water Conservation Board

Critical to the overall usefulness of the Drought & Water Supply Assessment result is the
full participation of Colorado water users from all geographies (defined by the seven
major river basins) and water use segments (agriculturalists, municipalities, industries,
federal and state agencies, recreational interests, power companies, counties and Indian
tribes), To identify and ultimately contact participants, a methodology was used that
tapped into various state databases, including the Department of Water Resources, the
Department of Local Affairs and the Water Quality Control Division of the CDPHE, to
obtain entity names, contact information, and in some cases, estimated water use figures
(as it was the goal of the assessment team to reach about 80 percent of the water used
within the State). The methodology used to identify assessment participants is presented
in this chapter.

5/16/2003

Page 11
