These efforts were used to identify strengths and weaknesses in the programs
administered by the Section, as well as threats to and opportunities for program applications now and into the
future. SWSI has also helped to further identity potential issues relevant to the development of the SLP Section
Strategic Plan.

Process
It is apparent from these efforts that the role of the SLP Section in supporting the mission of the CWCB is more
critical than ever with the growing need for water conservation, protection, development and management. To
best engage those individuals and entities that the SLP Section's programs support, the Strategic Plan will be
developed over the next 6 months (as indicated in the attached figure) through a series of:

. Interviews with program stakeholders (both internal and external to the State); and
. Preparation of drafts for Board and public review and comment.

A partial list of the program stakeholders that have already been contacted, or are in the process of being
contacted, is attached.

.

Flood Protection. Water Project Planning and Financing. Stream and Lake Protection
Water Supply Protection. Conservation Planning
