Scoping <br />Meetings in Littleton, Colorado and Greeley, Colorado <br /> <br />TO: <br />FROM: <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />We are writing to express our opinions about the proposal to allow more water to be stored in <br />Chatfield Reservoir. We hope that you will use these comments to frame the issues that should <br />be examined in an environmental analysis of this proposal. <br /> <br />Chatfield Reservoir was designed fur flood control storage and works in unison with Bear Creek <br />and Cherry Creek Reservoirs. The state beUeves it is feasible to reallocate some of the Dood <br />control spue at Chat6eld Reservoir to .now for lip to 10,600 acre feet (AF) of additional <br />water storage space in the ensting operaCioaal pooL Tllis dawn eaa be made alteT <br />conduetblg an Uteced","t 00041 study that will demonstrate that the Corps cau chuge its <br />operating criteria 10 that more reservoir space is avallable for water stonge purposes. <br /> <br />The Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) began urging the U.S. Amly Corps of <br />Engineers (Corps) to examine expanding the use of Chatfield Reservoir for additional water <br />atomge splICe eight years ago. Congress agreed with the Board's proposal and authorized the <br />Corps to complete a series of studies cooperatively with the state.
