Before coming to the <br />Foundation, Darst worked five years for daily newspapers in Colorado, covering water, agriculture and natural <br />resources. His reporting at the Fort Collins Coloradoan and Longmont DailY Times-Callwon multiple awards from the <br />Colorado Press Association. He holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from Colorado State University. <br /> <br />Educational Programs <br />In j uly 2004, the Foundation was pleased to release of its Citizen's Guide 10 Colorado Waler Conservation <br />authored by Nancy Zielig, former editor of the A WRA journal. In November, the Foundation also released its <br />fourth guide this series, the Cilizen's Guide 10 Colorado's Water Herilage. This publication pulled together of six <br />historians and scholars from around Colorado and the West, uniting their essays with the theme of ''Water and <br />Community: how water shapes Colorado's culture, history and identity." <br />Headwaters magazine, our quarterly current-events publication, has been increasingly growing in readership. <br />Since the ftrst issue was released in the Fall of 2003 our readership has almost doubled-and we now print 6,000 <br />copies of each issue. Recent features have included: growth, and a "basin focus" issue highlighting southwestern <br />Colorado. In our upcoming Winter issue, we will be showcasing water development projects currently underway <br />across the state, as well as the SWSI project. <br /> <br />Fundraisine- and Annual Membership Campaign <br />Last year, the Foundation raised almost $50,000 in our firsr annual membership campaign. In addition, <br />sales of educational products and events registrations raised another $30,000. Additional sponsorships and <br />donations were over $16,000. In this, we surpassed our projected budget revenues by more than $60,000. <br />In 2004-2005, the Foundation will continue our annual membership drive, along with efforts to obtain <br />grants, and maintain solid sales of our products/events.
