YELLOW JACKET PROJECT STUDY

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Introduction

In 1981, the Colorado Gene~al Assembly authorized the

Colorado Water Conservation Boa~d (CWCB) to conduct studies of

four potential water resources Qevelopment projects (Section 7,
S.B. 439). Among these was "Ye1.low Jacket Dam. . . a project
diverting or storing water from the White River above the

confluence of piceance Creek."

The 0~CB retained Internattonal Engineering Company, Inc.,
to perform the Yellow Jacket pr~ject Study. Expenditures were

limited by S.B. 439 to $300.00. In addition, S.B. 439 specifies

that future funding" .. is justified based on competent engi-

neering and economic data."

Study Objective

The objective of this study is to evaluate, at an appraisal

level of detail, the engineering feasibility and cost of con-

structing such alternative storage, diversion and major pumping

and delivery facilities, and combinations thereof, as would
