No. 172 <br /> <br />COLORADO WATER CONSERVATION BOARD <br />823 State Centennial Building <br />l313 Sherman Street <br />Denver, Colorado 80203 <br /> <br />February ll, 1981 <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a floodplain information report entitled "Flood <br />Hazard Study, Chalk Creek in Chaffee County, Colorado," <br />dated July 1980, has been prepared by the u.s. Department of <br />Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service, at the request of <br />Chaffee County and the Colorado Water Conservation Board; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said report describes and outlines the floodplain <br />data and information for the storm and floodwater runoff <br />channels or basins of the study area; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Chaffee <br />County has requested the Colorado Water Conservation Board to <br />designate and approve the floodplain areas as set forth in the <br />aforesaid report; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 37-60-l06{l}, Colorado Revised Statutes <br />1973, requires the Colorado Water Conservation Board to assist <br />in the prevention of floods and flood damages therefrom; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Sections 31-23-201 and 30-28-lll, Colorado ReviEed <br />Statutes 1973, provide that such legialative bodies of local <br />jurisdictions may provide zoning regulations for land uses on <br />or along any storm or floodwater runoff channel or basin only <br />after designation and approval by the Colorado Water Conservation <br />Board; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 37-60-l06(1) (c), Colorado Revised Statutes <br />1973, directs the Colorado Water Conservation Board to designate <br />and approve storm or floodwater runoff channels or basins and <br />to make such designations available to legislative bodies of <br />local jurisdictions; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the staff of the Board has reviewed said report and <br />does hereby recommend to the Colorado Water Conservation Board <br />that the Board designate and approve as floodplain areas those <br />areas inundated by a 100-year flood {intermediate regional flood} <br />as described by the floodwater surface elevations and profiles <br />in said report; <br />
