The $l.33 million estimated
construction cost included the cost of a cutoff trench which
had already been constructed before the project sponsor sought
funding from the Board to complete the project. That cost was
paid by the project sponsor out of its own funds.

When the Board recommended this project to the General
Assembly, our policy was to fund 50 percent of a project up
to a maximum of $l million. The $1 million limit applied in
this case and that is what the General Assembly authorized.

With the project now completed, the actual construction
cost, including the previously completed cutoff trench, has
come to $1.42 million. Total project cost stands at $2.5
million ($1.42 million plus $l.07 million for the value of
donated property). The project sponsor, the Michigan River
Water Conservancy District, has requested that the Board
recommend to the General Assembly that this project receive an
additional $4l9,000 Ithe difference between the $1.0 million
already authorized and the actual construction cost of $1.419
million, including the previously completed cutoff trench
at $160,000).

COLORADO WATER CONSERVATION BOARD, Frederick V.
