COLORADO WATER CONSERVATION BOARD
823 State Centennial Building
l313 Sherman Street
Denver, Colorado 80203

February 1981

TOWN OF PARACHUTE

At the December 2, 1980, Board meeting, it was decided that

the Parachute project be tabled. The reason was that the re-

quest for funding from the town was substantially different

from the staff recommendations. Since then, the town, their

engineers and the Board staff have worked together to review
the proposed project.

From the information submitted and analyzed, it is evident

that growth is occurring in the Parachute area (including the

area south of the river). The staff, however, is not confident

as to exactly where future growth will be located. Various

projections have been made and it appears that by the year

2000, the 150 taps in the town proper will increase to about

500, according to staff estimates.

The rescoped project, as proposed, would take care of the

present needs of the town and allow for some growth in antici-

pat ion of the energy boom in the area.

The rescoped project will be as follows:

Approximate Cost

la) Water treatment plant

(b) 12 inch water line relocation
with appurtenances

$ 450,000

40,000

Ic) Encasement under I-70

20,000
