That is just a horse-back opinion.

After some discussion on this item, Mr. Bailey asked, "Any other
questions?"

Mr. Peterson: "If the Board wishes, I have a map or profile of that
stream which presents the proposal which is before you now."

Mr. Bailey: "I think at this time, jAr. Peterson, if ~'ou would make a
summary for the explanation of the Board, it might be helpful".

.
Mr. Peterson: "'rhe chart would definitely show in graphic form of
what we are trying to do. (Mr. Peterson indicates on map). This is
the portion of the Gunnison River between Sapaniro and down hill to
the confluenc'i of the Gunnison and Cimmaron Rivers. We tried to make
use of something the Bureau of Reclamation was not making use of. We
.sto'pped at that point because we did not want the Bureau of Reclama-
tion to say that we were destroying the Crystal site. Take the Bureau
of Reclamation chart;, we have another 295 feet of fall. From the
proposed Bureau of Reclamation plant 9 miles of tunnel drops 10 feet
of head a mile. We deduct 90 feet and arrive at a total of 205 feet.
In arriving at these figures we tried to use, in every ces", figures
that hlive been set forth by the Bureau of Reclamation."

I.!r. Does anyone have any comments on
Mr. Peterson's statements?"

Mr. Peterson: "If the group is interested, I would like to state that
these figures were presented to the Engineering staff of the Upper
Colorado River COI!L'nission. I have a letter from them sta.ting how the
figures were arrived at. I would like this letter incorporated in the
minutes as part of the record."

I

UPPER ,COLORADO RIVER COMMISSION
GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO

520 Rood Avenue

December 9, 1953-

Dear Ilr.
