Precipitation
Precipitation was measured from 11 October to 2 December 2003, and June through 17
October 2003. Heavy rain occurred in late October 2002, and from mid-August through early
October 2003 (Figure 2).

.

1.0

0.8
""':'
c::
::=.-
c:: 0.6
0
~
as
:t::!
a. 0.4
'0
Q)
....
c.. .
0.2

;

0.0
11/1/02

3/1/03

7/1/03

11/1/03

Figure 2. Daily precipitation totals (inches) for the Spring Creek study site.

Stream Flow
Continuous measures of Spring Creek stream stage from mid October 2002 through mid
October 2003 indicated that stream stage declined from October through early November, and
remained relatively steady through the winter (Figure 3). Flows began to rise in mid April 2003,
and reached a peak in very late June and early July. Summer flows steadily declined but
remained relatively high through early October.
A linear regression line fits the stage/discharge data very well (R2 = 0.966, P = 0.0004),
indicating that the relatively steep sided channel has a linear stage/discharge relationship for the .

4
