This means, for all practical <br />purposes, that they will soon be under con- <br />struction, if this money is, in fact, appropriated. <br />We believe it will be. <br /> <br />The proposed federal budget is quite ade- I <br />quate to carryon our going program. The only <br />disappointment was that we got no money for <br />the Boulder-St.Vrain reconnaissance study. <br />Otherwise the federal budget, again, for Colo- <br />rado - the recommended budget - hit an all-time <br />high of approximately $50 million, up some $7 <br />million from last year; that is, in connection <br />with our water resource development program. <br />A full breakdown of that will be sent to the <br />Board when the budget is approved, giving item <br />by item, project by project. <br /> <br />Mr. Sweet has already mentioned the Closed <br />Basin project, that it has been circulated to <br />the interested states, namely, Colorado, New <br />Mexico and Texas, for review and comment under <br />the Flood Control Act of 1944. We have passed <br />the buc~, our staff at least, to the San Luis <br />Valley people. We are awaiting, Mr. Sweet, <br />some comments from the two conservancy districts <br />down there. We have requested them to submit <br />their comments to this Board by the 1st of March, <br />so that we in turn could prepare our comments. <br />Before the Board takes any action it will take <br />another meeting, however, because Mr. Quincy <br />Cornelius, the Board member who is intensely <br />interested in this particular project, wants <br />the opportunity to have the project discussed, <br />before any further action is taken. <br /> <br />We also received the result of a reconnais- <br />sance report on the Rio Grande Water Salvage <br />Project and it appears that this project has I <br />some merit. It also is being reviewed by the <br />people in the San Luis Valley. When we receive <br />some comment from them we, in turn, will prepare <br />our comments. <br /> <br />I understand, Mr. Sweet, that some money <br />has actually been programed to start the <br />
