two projects. This means, for all practical
purposes, that they will soon be under con-
struction, if this money is, in fact, appropriated.
We believe it will be.

The proposed federal budget is quite ade- I
quate to carryon our going program. The only
disappointment was that we got no money for
the Boulder-St.Vrain reconnaissance study.
Otherwise the federal budget, again, for Colo-
rado - the recommended budget - hit an all-time
high of approximately $50 million, up some $7
million from last year; that is, in connection
with our water resource development program.
A full breakdown of that will be sent to the
Board when the budget is approved, giving item
by item, project by project.

Mr. Sweet has already mentioned the Closed
Basin project, that it has been circulated to
the interested states, namely, Colorado, New
Mexico and Texas, for review and comment under
the Flood Control Act of 1944. We have passed
the buc~, our staff at least, to the San Luis
Valley people. We are awaiting, Mr. Sweet,
some comments from the two conservancy districts
down there. We have requested them to submit
their comments to this Board by the 1st of March,
so that we in turn could prepare our comments.
Before the Board takes any action it will take
another meeting, however, because Mr. Quincy
Cornelius, the Board member who is intensely
interested in this particular project, wants
the opportunity to have the project discussed,
before any further action is taken.

We also received the result of a reconnais-
sance report on the Rio Grande Water Salvage
Project and it appears that this project has I
some merit. It also is being reviewed by the
people in the San Luis Valley. When we receive
some comment from them we, in turn, will prepare
our comments.
