BASIS FOR INSTREAM FLOW RECOMMENDATION

. The DOW documented that a natural environment is present in the form of a Pikes Peak cutthroat and
brook trout fishery.

Based on the DOW's biological recommendation, flows of 1.5 efs, summer, and 0.5 cfs, Vlint.er, are ,.__
necessary to preserve the natural environment to a reasonable degree. However, the winter instream
flow recommendation was reduced to 0.2 cfs (11/15-5/31) based on the water availability analy~is. The,
DOW believes the lower flow recommendation will still preserve the natural environment.
. CWCB staffhas conducted a water availability analysis and determined these amounts are available for
the'Board's appropriation. "
. CWCB staff has determined that adequate water supplies exist such that the natural environment may be
preserved without limiting or foreclosing the exercise of valid existing water rights.
