539

DUTCHER and SERAPHINE
Attorneys at Law

Gunnison, Colorado

October 4, 1956

I

Dean Ivan Crawford, Director
Colorado Water Conservation Board
212 State Office Building
Denver 2, Colorado

Dear Dean:

Thank you for your letter of September 24 with enclosures.
They arrived in ample time for our meeting of the U~per Gunnison
River Watershed Conservation Committee.

At a meeting of the Committee held October 2, the question
of priority on small reservoirs was thoroughly discussed and con-
sidered, and the Committee decided on five projects. A copy of the
action taken is enclosed herewith.

It is hoped that new surveys can be made immediately on
the Tomichi Creek area as that has been a very critical area dur-
ing the past three or four years with a real shortage of water.
That is the No. 1 priority and is followed by the Ohio Creek which
was given the No. 2 priority. The Ohio Creek situation is equally
critical; however, because of the large area irrigated on the Tomi-
chi, this latter project was given priority.

We would like to have new surveys on the upper reaches of
Slate and East Rivers for reservoir and dam sites and if such sites
are found feasible, they would be of real assistance to all users
of water lower down the main stream of the Gunnison River to the
Curecanti Reservoir.

The Chochetopa area is likewise a critical area, and we
would like to have additional surveys to make that project feasi-
ble. The Cebolla Creek project is practically worthless in its
present location to the water users on Cebolla Creek. If this re-
servoir was higher on the stream, it would be invaluable, but in
its present location most of the project will be inundated by the
Curecanti reservoir.

I

We realize, of course, that we cannot get all of these
five projects in the early stages of the construction program, but
if you can push this Tomichi Creek and Ohio Creek project along and
see that the other projects are given the proper investigation, it
will be deeply appreciated.

With kindest personal regards, I am

Yours very truly,

E. L. DUTCHER{s

ELD:ab
Enclosure
