The subcommittee's
activities include integrating the projects and assignments of the Post Wildfire Hazards inter-agency
Group (Group) that has been funded under FEMA and contracted to the Bureau of Reclamation. In
addition to the federal efforts, the CWCB has implemented their Flood Response Program to provide an
addition level of participation for a number of high impact areas. All the State's hazard study activities
are presented and are made available through the MRRT.

Post-Wildfire Activities

.

The Flood Protection staff has been involved with post-wildfire efforts. A number of technical and
coordination activities are taking place in order to respond to the needs and hazards created by the fires.
Some of the key CWCB activities are:
1) Team member on the Post-Wildfire Hazard Interagency Group led by FEMA. FEMA has contracted
with Reclamation and the USGS to complete two separate GIS mapping products related to the
wildfires. The first product, known as "phase 1" maps, have been completed for the top priority fires
(i.e. Hayman, Missionary Ridge, Coal Seam, and Spring Creek) to show bum areas, bum intensities,
subdivision locations, communities, and potential flood and debris flow hazard areas (approximate
locations only). In addition, "phase 2" maps will be produced for the Hayman, Missionary Ridge, and
Coal Seam fires to show detailed flood and debris flow hazard areas using newly developed
hydrologic (post-fue watershed response) and hydraulic analyses using state-of-the art computer
modeling techniques. The phase 2 maps will be released beginning this fall (Hayman) and into next
spring (Coal Seam and Missionary Ridge). CWCB will conduct technical reviews of the information
prior to its release.

2) Chair the flood and debris flow subcommittee of the Multi-agency Restoration and Rehabilitation
Team (MRRT) led by DNR Assistant Director Kent Holsinger. The flood and debris flow
subcommittee has been attending all meetings of the MRRT to provide status updates and information
sharing related to technical activities for post-wildfire hazard identification, documentation,

Flood Protection. Water Supply Planning and Finance. Stream and Lake Protection
Water Supply Protection. Conservation and Drought Planning
