I'd like him to discuss this agenda item <br />wi th us." <br /> <br />"This memcrandum was prepared largely by <br />the various staff members who have been attend- <br />ing the inter-agency ccmmittee meetings over <br />the years and whc have studied Public Law 89-80, <br />the Water Resources Planning Act, which was <br />enacted by congress about two years ago. It <br />was the intent cf Ccngress tc render federal <br />assistance tc the states in river basin plan- <br />ning in a manner that previously had net been <br />pcssible. <br /> <br />The Act prcvides fer the formaticn cf <br />river basin commissions upcn request by the I <br />governors of the various states. A river basin <br />commission wculd have a permanent staff and <br />wculd be a joint federal-state endeavcr with <br />the funds fer the commission being prcvided <br />largely by the federal government. <br />
