CORNELIUS:

MR. STAPLETON:

to have the Bureau and the Corps of .Engineers'
officials and Dr. Donnelly is the Chairman.
Can you give us some details for those who
might want to go to Trinidad in the morn-
ing?1I

I

"It is my understanding that the city
of Trinidad is sponsoring the ground-break-
ing ceremonies. The guest speakers are
Commissioner Dominy, Bureau of Reclamation,
and Major-General Haug, Division Engineer,
Southwestern Division Corps of Engineers.
The ground-breaking ceremonies will, as I
understand, start at 10:30 at the site which
is about 4 miles up the Purgatoire River on
Highway 12. Beyond that, I am not intimately
acquainted with the details of the program."

"Are there any questions on the report
of the Albuquerque District Corps of Engi-
neers?1I

"I have a question, Mr. Chairman. Ike,
on these flood plain studies, the proper
procedure, if the city of Alamosa would need
such a study, would be to make a request to
the Albuquerque office of the Corps of
Engineers. Is that right?"

"The procedure, Mr. Cornelius, would be
to make a request to the District through
the Colorado Water Conservation Board. That
is necessary in order for the state to
establish priority."

"Alamosa has never made the request?"

"NO, sir. We have only a request from
Monte vista at this time."

I

"Thank you."

"Any further questions from the audience
on the Albuquerque District report?

Thank you very much, Mr. Redmond."
