agenda item, the report of the corps of
Engineers, Albuquerque District, by Mr.
Redmond. "

"Mr. Chairman, members of the Board, I
am pleased to be here today and give the
report of the Albuquerque District, Corps
of Engineers.

A contract in the amount of $1,921,705
for construction of the outlet works for the
Trinidad Reservoir Project was awarded on
l7 April 1968 to Hensel Phelps Construction
Company of Greeley, Colorado. The contractor
commenced construction on 8 May 1968 and the
work was l8 percent complete on 15 August
1968. The completion date of the contract
is 7 March 1970. The official ground-break-
ing ceremonies for the project will be held
by the City of Trinidad at the site on 6
September 1968. Plans and specifications
are being prepared or will soon be started
for relocation of Colorado State Highway 12,
a county road in the project area, and the
Colorado and Wyoming railroad. Work also
will be initiated at an early date on the
plans and specifications for the embankment
and spillway of the dam. Real estate
appraisals and negotiations for acquisition
of project lands are being continued. Funds
in the amount of $1,649,000 have been made
available for continuation of construction
in FY 1969.

On the Las Animas Local Protection
Project, preconstruction planning of the
authorized project plan has been prepared
and plans and specifications for railroad
bridge alterations are scheduled for com-
pletion during FY 1969. The project will
then be ready for a construction start in
FY 1970.
