The District is still actively pursuing development of the <br />Vallecito Water Company and is planning on using the CWCB loan to construct raw water <br />facilities. As requested in your October 24, 2000 letter, the following information is provided. <br /> <br />Status of Planning Activities <br />The District is actively planning the construction of approximatdy 75 miles of treatF ~ <br />water pipelines, treated water tanks, a treatment plant. and raw water facilitie,. <br />Approximately 1,000 equivalent taps have been obligated in the Initi.al Service Area and <br />over 1,500 in the maximum service area. The next step in the development process is the <br />acquisition of right-of-way and the preparation of plans and specifications for tbe Initial <br />Service Area. A Preliminary Engineering Report prepared for Rural Development <br />describes the Initial Service Area, the facilities, and tbe financial projections for the <br />project. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Status ofFinancing <br />USDA Rural Development has set aside $8 million for the project ($6 million loan an.d <br />S2 million grant). An application was submitted to the Colorado Department of J-1ealth <br />last week for a 51 million Joan from the Colorado Water Resources and Power <br />Development Authority. Funds for preparation of the plans and specifications have been <br />authorized from the CWCB ($300,000), LaPlata Electric Association (5300,000), and <br />Colorado Department of Health (pending decision on $100,000 grant). <br /> <br />The estimated cost of facilities in the Initial Service Area is approximately S 11.5 million. <br /> <br />A loan from the CWCB for the raw water facilities is an integral part of the funding . <br />package. <br />
