transmountairi diversion in Colorado,- and
Weminuche Pass was the only transmountain
diversion at that time which could have been
referred to."

"The amount has been cut to 10,000 acre feet."

"The higher you go the cheaper the water.
As it stands now there is nothing for anybody
to argue about. This report says it is not
financially feasible."

"What do you think would have to be done to
make that feasible?"

"The old original report arbitrarily fixed
the amount of water to the Pine River Project.
When we came to reviewing the Project, Mr. Riter
imposed criteria which resulted in an amount
of about 11,000 acre feet which could be developed."

"What happens to the water that spills from
the Vallecito Reservoir?"

"It goes to New Mexico and winds up in the
Grand Canyon."

"Let me ask Mr. Sweet one question. I have
heard. the present Pine River Project calls for
30,000 acres."

"No, as I recall, that appropriation is
17,500 acres and I believe it still stands at
that figure.-

"The figures I heard for the original was 30,000
acres. I know the 17,500 acres are paying for
the dam, but haven't received a drop of water.
They want to build their own project and figure
they can build it for far less. So far the
Bureau hasn't consented to do that."

"What is the status of that?"

"I think the final report is ready for Congress."
