Introduction

Over the years, the CWCB has developed numerous databases to track loans, water rights, court actions, floodplain
designations and other key agency information. The databases were developed by staff and outside contractors using
different software platforms to meet short-term purposes, which have since turned into long-term needs. Due to the
inconsistency in designs and data needs and uses, it has become apparent that an overall review of existing CWCB
databases is needed, along with reconunendations and a comprehensive plan to consolidate and upgrade the databases to
meet future needs.

Discussion

In order to maximize the use of the various databases by all CWCB sections and to make the same data available to the
general public through the Internet, it is necessary to determine if these databases can be combined, how they are
accessed and how existing databases can be maintained in the future.

Goals

The long-term goal is to develop databases that are designed to meet the needs of the CWCB staff, the Board and the
public, which are flexible enough to address water resource information needs in the future. This study will:

.

Review all existing CWCB databases.
Determine if existing databases are meeting the intended needs of the original design.
Interview CWCB staff to see if existing database's can be redesigned and or combined into one easily maintainable
database and still meet the needs of the agency.

.

.

.

flood Protection.
