Jack mentioned that Colorado is fortunate to have four Corps Districts in Colorado as they are
divided by basin. They have a 24-hour emergency uumber that is (402) 2214148. Jack believed that the
state and federal agencies served the state very well last year related to the fires. The Corps is mostly
authorized for flood fighting. They can also assist in preparing for pre-flood conditions in urban areas.
Glenwood Springs was the only significant area and the NRCS provided some assistance to the community.
The Corps advised requesting their participation with the BAER team under the advanced measures in future
fires. Jack Rose stated that the Tri-Lakes office at Chatfield Reservoir has 100,000 sand bags and other
capability. The Corps can also offer some technical assistance with drought through the authority to transport
water through pipelines and vehicles.

USACE - Albuquerque District - Tomas Ryau.
We are seamless as far as coverage for flood go but they oversee the Arkansas and Rio Grande Rivers here.
He tried to emphasize that the Corps relies heavily on local sponsors to maintain Corps flood control
structures. Don Soards was their emergency services person and has recently retired. They are trying to fill
now. There has also been a change at Trinidad Lake as the former person was retired and replaced. Trinidad
has a small number of sand bags. They rely on John Martin Reservoir for personnel in flood response. Their
office can respond to flood requests but does not have a 24-hour hotline number.

FEMA Region VDI - Dave Kyner
Dave Kyner explained about FEMA's efforts to get the flood insurance message out into the communities.
