that can repay th~costs tor the water supply I -Itii1'so gives us a
rather significant change in the required water supply. We have about
four acre~feet per acre going to the MVI System and just slightly over
two acre-feet going to the new lands. The saving of this water supply
was a very important thing. And, of course, the salinity reduction as
a result is a very important factor.

COMMENT: Will this result in a significantly higher cost to the user
for this pump system?

~. COOK: No, it really won't. The water will be delivered to the
irrigator under pressure. This won't be a user cost. It will be a
project cost instead of a farm cost at that point~ The cost of the
water to the irrigators is well within their ability to pay as required
by reclamation law.

COMMENT: Do you know what that runs per acre?

MR. COOK: Thos.e costs have not been developed and released yet. And
they won't be until a definite plan report is out. Those project costs
are as determined by our Durango office. Most of the major facilities
are under review in our Engineering Research Center in Denver. They
make the final determination of those costs and we don't want to
prejudice what we might determine as our own costs. We have been known
to be a little low. (Cost summaries presented by Mr. Cook follow.)

-14-

I

I
